Project aims

First and foremost, the Forum Link aims to support its member groups and to help start up new HIV positive patient groups across the United Kingdom by providing specialised technical, advisory and consultancy support tailored to the local needs of each group and independent of statutory governance.

We also aim to strengthen the voice of patients by enabling their engagement with legislators and policy makers, commissioners, primary care trusts and NHS service providers with the goal to develop the provision of health and social services that best meet the needs of the HIV positive community in the UK.

  • We also aim to provide guidance on best practice and capacity building for HIV positive patient groups along with advice on managing finances, policy and procedure, funding proposals by offering expert consultancy and training or sign-posting to appropriate local support.
  • The Forum Link aims to continue to retain a strong HIV positive person-centred ethos that responds to a changing social and clinical environment. We will maintain transparency and promote user involvement through regular input from groups and individuals; periodic reviews; subscriber consultation & surveys; group feedback sessions; maximising the use and expertise of people living with HIV; and supporting individual patients to engage directly by participating in public and patient involvement events.
